Weekly Update #26

It has been a while, hasn’t it, dear readers?  If you have been keeping up with me and my lil’ blog here, then you know I’m bad at keeping to a posting schedule.  And you’ve read the words, “But I’m going to work on that!” about a billion times before, too.  But I am going to work on it.  I have a plan.  And you’ll read more about it later this week because this post is about what I’ve been up to, not what I’m going to be up to.

Still working at the call center.  Still really don’t like my job.  It’s bearable when I’m skilled in Medicare D and taking calls from lovely older people who are typically really sweet and understanding.  Compared to the member services skill, where 90% of the calls start with “I am so sick of you people constantly screwing my order up.”   Start with a line like that, and you can basically guarantee that I instantly stop caring about taking care of whatever silly little issue it is that you’re having.  Lately they’ve been skilling me in member services.  I’ve taken mainly those calls for the past two weeks.  It gets really draining, emotionally, having to sit there and listen to people essentially tell you that you’re the reason they’re going to die because they’re not getting their medication.  It’s just… exhausting.

Which is why I’m exceedingly grateful to have M in my life.  He can make me smile even after the worst day on the phones.  Since we both work at the same place, it makes it easier to get through the day when I can see him on break.  He grounds me.  It’s nice to have that calming force in my life.

Speaking of, on our last day off, we went looking at engagement rings.  We’ve been talking for a while about marriage, and it just seemed like the right time to start getting somewhat serious about it.  It was fun to look at all sorts of different styles of rings.  The best part, though, was the way M’s face lit up when he first saw a ring on my left hand.  Talking about spending the rest of our lives together is one thing, taking the first steps towards the reality of forever is quite another.

Well, that’s pretty much it.  As usual, when I’m not working, I’m spending my free time with M.  Or sleeping.  But, like I mentioned earlier in the post, I have a plan in place where I’ll be posting more frequently and consistently on the blog.  So keep it tuned in to Day Old Sushi!
